GPS – GPRS based real-time monitoring system
Do you want to record the data from a truck / van in the same system?

It is a common scenario that a customer will have a lot of trucks delivering goods from the warehouse and you may want to record the data from the truck. One option is definitely to use GPRS based real-time monitoring system. You may prefer to use a single set of software for your warehouse and the trucks.
An alternate option is to record the data inside the truck while it is out of your premises and transmit the data to your warehouse as soon as it comes back to the warehouse. In this case, you may not be able to monitor the temperature while the truck is on the move. But as soon as it reaches your premises it will automatically transmit data to your central system. This can be achieved through WiFi, Rf or Zigbee type of sensors. You can have a receiver (base station) in your loading/unloading area. One sensor will be installed in each vehicle. While the truck is within the range of the receiver, it will continuously transmit data to the receiver. However, as soon as the truck moves out of the premises the sensor starts recording in itself. When the truck reaches back to the warehouse it transmits all the recorded data automatically. This system will be much cheaper than a GPRS based system.
In hospitals, critical parameters of patient rooms need to be continuously monitored, recorded and alerts generated if required. This will be required in many cases as regulatory requirement. Such monitoring systems are required for patient rooms, Operation Theater, isolation ward etc.
What are the parameters to be monitored in patient rooms?

Temperature of the room has to be continuously monitored. The temperature level should not exceed the specified levels.

How to select a hospital room monitoring system?

The tracking device is fitted in the vehicle preferably in the driver’s cabin. Couple of sensors can be connected from this device to the refrigerated compartment. Depending on the size of the vehicle, upto 4 sensors can be placed in the refrigerated vehicle for collecting data.
For transferring continuous data such as temperature, humidity etc., General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) through GSM network is used. This is data packet transmission similar to browsing internet on the mobile phones through GSM network. The data sampling and transmission interval can be programmed in the device. eg. an interval of 3 minutes means that the data will be transmitted every 3 minutes.

An alert system also can be integrated which will generate email and SMS alerts in the event that the temperature exceeds the permitted levels. The email and SMS are generated by the software which collects data from each vehicle. Also it is possible to generate SMS from a SIM card mounted in an auxiliary device in the vehicle. In this case the SMS will be independent of the software and will not depend on the server connectivity and hence offers more reliability.
