Measuring Principle
An infrared emitter sends chopped light into the Prism. When in air the light undergoes total internal reflection and is sensed by the Photo-detector.

When the Prism is covered by the liquid, the light gets dispersed and so is not detected. This change is processed to signal an alarm.

Measuring Principle
The sense electrode and the instrument casing / vessel wall form an electrical capacitor. When in air the dielectric constant is 1 but when covered it is that of the material and so there is a change in the probe capacitance.

The capacitance is accurately measured and compared with a reference voltage. This change is processed to signal an alarm.

Measuring Principle
A Low alternating voltage is applied between the sense electrode and the probe ground. When the liquid reaches the point level , a conductive path is established between the two.

This is detected by MARINE’S Electronics and used to signal and alarm.

Measuring principle
A low AC voltage is applied between the probe electrode and the tank wall (or reference electrode in case of insulated tank). When the liquid comes in contact with the electrode tip, a conductive path is established between the sense electrode and the tank wall / reference electrode. This current is sensed, amplified and made to operate a relay whose contacts in turn can be used for annunciation / control.

When in air the sense rod is set into mechanical vibrations at its resonant frequency by Piezo elements. The Vibrations are damped when the rod gets covered with the service materials.

PiCos ‘LiquiTune’ is a compact point level switch suitable for liquids and slurries of density greater than 0.7gms/cc and up to a viscosity of 10,000 Centipoise. Due to its compact construction it can be used in small vessels and pipelines where available space is at a premium.

It is unaffected by Foam, Turbulence, Air bubbles and Electrical characteristics of the service material. Wetted parts are of highly polished non-corrosive stainless steel, so suitable for food grade and pharmaceutical applications.

Measuring Principle
The fork is driven by Piezo elements at its resonant frequency. The resonant frequency of the fork is inversely proportional to the mass of liquid moved per second. Therefore the resonant frequency reduces as more and more tines get covered with the liquid. This change in the resonant frequency is accurately measured by ‘LiquiTune’ electronics and used to signal an alarm. Open collector PNP output is available as standard for connection to PLC or for relay operation.

PiCos ‘Proximax’ is capable of detecting metallic and non-metallic objects at long distances, reliably and efficiently. Proximax sensitivity is factory set to detect most of the available substances in common Industrial applications. Since the detection range depends on the dielectric constant of the media and the nearness of objects surrounding the installation; in special cases, the sensitivity may need adjustment.

The detection distance can be set either by means of the check-nuts mechanically or by means of the multi-turn potentiometer accessible after opening the sealing screw near the cable entry.

Proximax can detect almost all types of conductive and non-conductive materials, such as water, glass, plastics, and metals without physical contact.

Dual Channel Universal Controller for Picos Sensors
UNICON-H
PiCos sensors such as Ray, Marine, Pirock, Marvel, Proximax can be interfaced with UNICON-H for stand-alone operation.
PiCos ‘UNICON-H ‘ has a built in power supply that accepts universal power input of 90 to 265V AC 50 to 60 Hz as well as DC, input of 18 to 55V DC on the same input terminals. Its 2 channel input can be used to accept any combination of PiCos sensors that have PNP open collector outputs.

UNICON-H has a single change over potential free contact per channel that can be used for alarm annunciation or control. The connected PiCos Sensors derive their power for operation from UNICON-H.

UNICON-H additionally has the facility of adjustable time delay on each channel for probe covered and uncovered conditions. Also the fail safe mode can be selected independently for each channel by DIP switches. It is possible to select the relay operation mode as two independent outputs or as a single pump control logics by means of DIP switches. Alarm indication is provided by LED’s on internal panel.

The complete electronics is housed in a plastic enclosure with a transparent cover through which the LED indicators are clearly visible. The enclosure is provided with P.G glands for wire connections and is certified for IP67

Introduction
Water scarcity is a problem that is gripping the major metropolitan cities of the world. Next to availability comes the problem of undue waste of the precious commodity. It is so precious that someone has said that if at all third world war occurs it will not be fought for oil or land boundaries but for water. Water is life. The Droplet goes a long way in saving the precious commodity of water and making it available for 24 hours economically, when required. It avoids wastage due to overflow, ensures adequate water supply and operates the pump motor only when required, thus maintaining the economy and reducing electricity bills. It reduces unnecessary wear and tear of pumps, motor and switch gear saving on repairing and maintenance cost. It also avoids sudden failures and breakdown due to dry run of pumps and burning out of motor. The motor is switched off automatically if the supply voltage goes above or below the normal operating range.

Working
Normally municipal water supply does not have enough pressure to fill overhead tanks. In most of the cases the municipal supply is used to fill up underground sumps or tanks. Pumps are used to raise the water up to the over head tank for distribution to various floors of building. Where there is scarcity of water, submersible pumps are used to draw water from bored wells and pump it to the overhead tank. For an efficient system the level in the overhead tank must always be maintained within the desired high and low limits.

Whenever the water level falls below the low level limit the pump motor must start automatically and fill it up till the higher limit is reached. When this happens the pump motor must stop to avoid overflow and the controller must monitor the falling level and start the motor automatically again as soon as level goes below the low level limit. While doing this however, the controller should ensure that there is adequate water in the sump or underground tank so the motor and the pump are not damaged due to dry run. Also in case of supply voltage exceeding the specified limits the motor should be switched off to avoid burn out. All this is done continuously by Droplet it is as if a sentry is watching the operation vigilantly and taking the right decision, not only to maintain sufficient water in overhead tank but also to avoid wastage as well as protect the complete system and that too in the most economically way.
