Parking Guidance Systems
There are two types of car parking systems: traditional and automated. In the long term, automated car parking systems are likely to be more cost effective when compared to traditional parking garages. Automatic multi-storey automated car park systems are less expensive per parking slot, since they tend to require less building volume and less ground area than a conventional facility with the same capacity. Both automated car parking systems and automated parking garage systems reduce pollution — cars are not running or circling around while drivers look for parking spaces.
What is a parking sensor?Parking sensors are proximity sensors for road vehicles designed to alert the driver to obstacles while parking.
What is a parking system? An automated (car) parking system (APS) is a mechanical system designed to minimize the area and/or volume required for parking cars. Like a multi-story parking garage, an APS provides parking for cars on multiple levels stacked vertically to maximize the number of parking spaces while minimizing land usage
What is the average height of a parking garage?Further, speed ramp slopes range from 6.67% to 16 %. Considering vertical circulation of floor to floor heights, these typically range from 10’0” to 12’0”. According to code, minimum required clearances are 8’2” for van accessible parking, and 7’0” for regular and other accessible spaces.
How do reverse parking sensors work?Ultrasonic Sensors. These types emit radio or ultrasonic waves that bounce off of objects behind the vehicle, much like some animals use echolocation. … For example, some surface types can interfere with how sound waves reflect, or, if an object is too narrow or small to reflect sound waves, your sensor will not see it.
How does a car sensor work?Car proximity sensors do very much what they say on the tin – they sense when your vehicle gets close to an object. … Electromagnetic and ultrasonic sensors are the two most often used sensors for parking, and feature in many other applications, including burglar alarms.
What is the size of a double garage?Generally, the minimum recommended size of a 2-car garage is approximately 20 ft. wide and 20 ft. deep. When considering your 2-car garage design wishes, go bigger when possible. 22 X 22 is comfortable and 24 X 24 gives you some breathing space.
How big is a triple garage?Generally, the minimum recommended size of a 3-car garage is approximately 32 ft. wide and 22 ft. deep. When considering your 3-car garage design, go bigger when possible. A 36 X 25, 38 X 26 or 40 X 30 are common sizes that offer more flexibility with their dimensions.
A car parking system is a mechanical device that multiplies parking capacity inside a parking lot. Parking systems are generally powered by electric motors or hydraulic pumps that move vehicles into a storage position.
Automated parking system
An automated (car) parking system (APS) is a mechanical system designed to minimize the area and/or volume required for parking cars. Like a multi-story parking garage, an APS provides parking for cars on multiple levels stacked vertically to maximize the number of parking spaces while minimizing land usage. The APS, however, utilizes a mechanical system to transport cars to and from parking spaces (rather than the driver) in order to eliminate much of the space wasted in a multi-story parking garage. While a multi-story parking garage is similar to multiple parking lots stacked vertically, an APS is more similar to an automated storage and retrieval system for cars. The paternoster (shown animated at the right) is an example of one of the earliest and most common types of APS. APS are generically known by a variety of names, including:
Automatic parking system (not to be confused with in-car parking guidance systems)Automated parking facility (APF)Automated vehicle storage & retrieval system (AVSRS)Car parking systemMechanical parkingRobotic parking garage

Being able to lift vehicles up allows them to be stacked vertically. Making use of vertical space allows vehicles to be parked in the most efficient manner possible. The platform is moved by a hydraulic lifting system. Before lowering the platform just remove the lower vehicle. This system enables two cars to be stacked one above the other. It is a hydraulic mechanism which works very smooth, quite and reliable.

Factory Gate Automation : –
SlidingIf space is an issue or the driveway behind the gates is on a steep incline, a better option would be a sliding gate. Sliding gates are also very popular in a commercial environment. Sliding gates are also used for cantillever gate systems.
Hydraulic motors are the preferred choice on large and heavy gates as they can generate high levels of torque, electromechanical systems designed for lower usage domestic installations because they can be produced more cost effectively. A number of larger manufacturers now produce both hydraulic and electromechanical systems providing unbiased choice for customers.
Electric gate, whether automatic or not, is the electric gate motor, two distinct motor types exist hydraulic, or electromechanical. This is the electric device which actually enables the electric gate to open and close without having to manually push the gate. All types of electric gates and barriers make use of a motor of some kind. There are many different kinds of electric gate motors
Electric Gate SafetyThe safety of an automated gate is an important consideration. Automated gate safety is specified. An automated gate that has not been fitted with safety in mind can potentially become a major hazard particularly to untrained users. Various safety devices are available to make sure that your gates meet the highest safety standards.
How does electronic tolling work?Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system in India uses passive radio frequency identification technology (RFID) . RFID tag called FASTag is mounted on the vehicle’s windscreen. As the vehicle reaches the toll plaza, a unique identification number that is embedded on the tag is read by road side RFID reader.
What is ETC Tag lane?It stands for Electronic Toll Collection which is a computerised system which is integrated with electronic equipment installed in the Toll Plazas. It reads the radio frequency identification (RFID) tag that is stuck on the vehicle’s windscreen and opens the barrier to let the vehicle pass when it approaches the Plaza.
What is an entrance gate? The definition of a gate is a structure that can be opened to provide an entrance or an opening used for passage through a fence or wall. An example of a gate is a side entrance to the back yard of a house. An example of a gate is a hinged door in the middle of a picket fence.
What is an ETC in a car?Electronic throttle control (ETC) is an automobile technology which electronically “connects” the accelerator pedal to the throttle, replacing a mechanical linkage.
What is fastag?FASTag is a device that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid account linked to it. It is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to drive through toll plazas, without stopping for cash transactions.
Electric gates alone, however solid and imposing they may be, cannot guarantee a completely secure environment electric locks, are often needed to boost the locking effectiveness of the gate motors. Electric gates are recommended to be used in combination with other security features to install a full security system. A few of these features are closed circuits with security cameras, additional gates in conjunction with the main gate, electronic keycards and keypads, security guards.
Aside from the additional security features that should go with parking barrier gates, electric security gates often offer safety features like sensors that determine when there is an obstruction to prevent the electronic gate from swinging into a vehicle or closing on somebody’s hands. To prevent the electronic gates from being damaged by irresponsible drivers driving fast speed bumps are also commonly placed before gate entrances to slow down vehicles.
A gate operator is a mechanical device used to open and close a gate, such as one at the end of a driveway. There are two main types of electric gate openers – hydraulic or electromechanical; these can be further split into the following categories, worm (or screw) driven, arm openers and underground openers. Automatic and Electric Gate operators are designed for both swinging and sliding gates. They can be programmed to open and close with a wireless transmitter or a manual device. Low Voltage Automatic Gate openers can also be fitted with solar panels to ensure function during loss of electricity or blackouts.
BarrierBarrier gate operators are what you see in parking garages, at toll booths, and at other traffic control areas.
It is an automatic gate consisting of a breakaway gate arm, motor assembly and housing installed at the departure end of a toll island or a car park. A traffic barrier is used to reduce violations and speed through a toll lane.
It is vital to consider the safety of electric gates. An improperly installed automatic gate without proper safety devices may result in serious injury or death. Many manufacturers now produce 12V, 24V, 120V, and 230V operators, electric & hydraulic which are capable of detecting the difference between an obstacle and the effects of the wind on the gate leaf.
The 230V supply like all electrical additions have to be part P certified. If you already have power supplied to the gate then P certificate does not apply. Machinery directives EN 12453 and EN 12445 are the regulations concerning gates. Whoever installs the gate is the one responsible for the conformity. The major points are the maximum amount of force at certain test points. Example – a maximum of 400N of force can be applied in the last 50 cm of travel of a gate, during the mid travel of a gate the amount is 1400N. Most gate kits can be fitted so that these limits are not reached and so meet the requirements. Please also be aware that many gate installers have never heard of these regulations If in doubt contact the main equipment suppliers to discuss in more detail.
Risk assessments should always be undertaken to ensure that gates are fitted with appropriate safety devices protecting all crush and cutting areas that the moving gate creates
Boom barrier
Automatic boom barrier
Automatic boom barriers in a level crossing of New South Wales, Australia.
Boom barriers in The Netherlands. There are various technologies for an automatic boom barrier. One of them is electro-mechanical, which is widely used due to its reliability. The other technologies are often manufacturer specific. These electro-mechanical device comes with 24VDC drive unit which can run continuously without generating heat, so electro-mechanical boom barriers can be operated continuously and in an intensive duty cycle.
Operation of automatic boom barrierAn Automatic boom barrier can be operated through:
Push ButtonRemote ControlRFID Tags / RFID ReaderLoop DetectorsAny third party access control device
Boom gates are typically found at Level crossings, drawbridges, parking facilities, checkpoints and entrances to restricted areas. They are also the usual method for controlling passage through toll booths, and can also be found on some freeway entrance ramps which are automatically controlled to drop to restrict traffic in the event of accident cleanup or road closures without the need to dispatch road workers or law enforcement to use a vehicle to block the way. Some boom gates are automatic and powered, others are manually operated. Manual gates are sometimes hung in the manner of a normal gate (i.e. hinged horizontally). In some places, boom gates are installed across suburban streets as a traffic calming measure, preventing through traffic, while allowing authorised vehicles such as emergency services and buses to take advantage of the shorter and more direct route.
